Paula Wells-Riske (known as Miss Poppy) is 59 years of age, and is the great granddaughter of a Maori chief in New Zealand, and is one of 15 children in her family. Since arriving in Australia in 1978, Miss Poppy aspires to spread love and positive vibrations around the world via her singing in her own band, Miss Poppy’s Virtual Blues Band.
Miss Poppy has run her own entertainment business for 20 years in Perth. She won the Inaugural Best Blues Singer award in the early 90`s at the prestigious Bridgetown Blues Festival. She has performed in many places such as Sydney, Blue Mountains, Penrith, Blacktown, Parramatta, Mt Druit, Leura, Lithgow and Blackheath in NSW.
Miss Poppy is currently working 3 days per week voluntarily for the Belmont Business Enterprise Centre (Belmont BEC) and the Textile Clothing Footwear Resource Centre of W.A. (TCFWA). She also busks in the Perth CBD 3 days, and down in Fremantle 1 day per week.
