Susan Hunt was appointed Perth Zoo’s Chief Executive Officer in 2004 after joining the Zoo in May 2000 as Director of Business Operations. Susan has a background in policy and planning in the Western Australian public sector and has also worked in the university and private sectors in social science research, writing and lecturing.

Susan is a member of the Board of the WA Council of the Institute of Public Administration, has been a member of the Board of the Zoo and Aquarium Association (Australasia) since 2004 and was Zoo Association President from 2007 until 2011.

She is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand School of Government, a member of the World Zoo and Aquarium Association Conservation and Animal Welfare and Ethics committees as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Species Management System.

Susan was awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) in the 2010 Australia Day Honours list for her outstanding contribution to conservation and public service. Her experience will help her focus on the topic of how women can be encouraged and assisted to live in dignity and contribute to the well-being of women and their families in a wide range of circumstances.
